Pennsylvania

Update:  Effective May 8, 2020, public and private residential and commercial construction can resume statewide.  On April 20, 2020, the Governor amended his original business closure order and directed that non-emergency construction can resume statewide beginning on May 8, 2020.  All construction work must be done in strict compliance with the State’s guidance on workplace safety (see link below).  Under the original business closure order, all construction had been suspended except for emergency repairs and construction of health care facilities.

NOTE:  Pennsylvania previously provided businesses with an online form to request exemption from the statewide ban on construction activities.  That form is no longer available, and the Department of Community & Economic Development’s website indicates that it will not accept any further requests for a business exemption waiver.  If your company previously received an exemption, or general authority to conduct emergency repairs, you may continue such repairs between April 20 and May 8, but work must be limited to performing those tasks necessary to provide emergency repair services.  According to the State, no new construction or non-emergency rehabilitation or remodeling may be performed until May 8.
